Another Chance Alert

The Another Chance Alert is a special type of Account Alert offered through the Credit Union’s Alert service.

How the Another Chance Alert Works

Members who register for this alert receive a notice on their mobile phone to make a deposit or transfer funds to their checking account to prevent items from being returned due to insufficient funds. Members have until 5:00 PM (Eastern time) that day to make a deposit to their account.

  • Check or cash deposits can be made at our local branch office. Deposits cannot be made at ATMs.
  • Funds may be transferred from another account using Connect GKCU, ASK GKCU or a CashPoints ATM

All deposits or transfers must be made by 5:00 pm (Eastern time) on the day that your Another Chance Alert is sent, or by 5:00 PM on the next business day if your alert is sent on Saturday or a holiday. During registration for the Another Chance Alert, you may wish to adjust your time for receiving alerts accordingly.

When you receive an Another Chance Alert, it has already been determined that your checking account, and any protecting accounts, have insufficient funds to cover one or more items. The determination that an account has insufficient funds to cover one or more items is made during the first attempt to post the item and does not take into account subsequent credits to your account. Overdraft funds have already been determined to be insufficient to pay Another Chance item(s) when your alert is sent.
