Members ages 13-19 can participate in our Zard® program. The Zard program, which is focused on helping teens develop solid money management skills, provides a variety of products and services tailored to meet their needs.

Zard Share (Savings)

  • $5 minimum balance must be maintained to avoid monthly maintenance fee2
  • Zard CashPoints® card for ATM transactions
  • No checks can be written and no automated clearing house (ACH) debits are allowed on Zard Share accounts
  • Account automatically converts to a regular Share account when the owner turns 20 years old

Zard Checking

  • No minimum balance required to earn dividends3
  • $1 monthly maintenance fee
  • Zard Visa® debit card for purchases and ATM transactions
  • Overdraft Transfer Service available
  • Joint account with a parent, grandparent, or other responsible adult required for members under age 184
  • Individual account available for members ages 18-19 years old, or who are otherwise eligible to open a checking account individually
  • Account automatically converts to a regular Checking account when the owner turns 20 years old

Group Term Life Insurance Coverage

Teen Zard accountholders are eligible to receive $1,000 of Group Term Life Insurance at no cost. This coverage can be increased to $10,000 for $18 per year, if the additional coverage is purchased within 30 days of account opening, by either of the following5:

  • A parent/guardian on the teen’s behalf if the teen is under age 15
  • The teen if age 15 or older
1 Dividend rates and annual percentage yields (APY) are variable and subject to change daily at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
2 A $1 monthly maintenance fee is charged if account is below minimum balance on statement date.
3 Must maintain balance sufficient to cover monthly maintenance fee and other authorized charges.
4 If teen cannot sign, a parent or legal guardian must sign on the teen’s behalf even if the parent/legal guardian is not the joint owner.
